iPhone 17 Price UK: What It Costs Now and Where to Pay Less

The iPhone 17 now costs £899 in the UK, £100 more than it did in August. Apple raised it on 9 September, the day of the iPhone 18 Pro event, and added the same flat £100 to every older iPhone it still sells. If you were holding out for September to get a better price, it went the other way.

The rumour this page originally covered was right about the direction and wrong about the size. Here is what everything costs now, what the rise did to the gaps between models, and where the iPhone 17 is still cheaper than Apple.

iPhone 17 price in the UK now

From Apple's UK store on 1 October 2026:

  • iPhone 17 256GB: £899, up from £799
  • iPhone 17 512GB: £1,099, up from £999

On Apple's 0% finance that is £29.96 a month over 30 months for the 256GB model, or £36.63 a month for 512GB.

The whole UK iPhone line-up after the rise

  • iPhone 17e: from £699, was £599
  • iPhone 16: from £799, was £699
  • iPhone 17: from £899, was £799
  • iPhone Air: from £1,099, was £999
  • iPhone 18 Pro: from £1,199, new in September
  • iPhone Duo: from £1,999, with Apple's store showing a 16 October pre-order date

The iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max have gone from Apple's store, replaced by the iPhone 18 Pro models. Every phone Apple carried over went up by exactly £100.

What I got right and wrong in August

In August I worked from Apple's July rise in Japan and guessed 8% to 10%, which put the iPhone 17 at roughly £865 to £880. Apple did not use a percentage at all. A flat £100 on £799 is 12.5%, and on the £599 iPhone 17e it is 16.7%, so the cheapest phones took the biggest proportional hit. That is my own arithmetic on Apple's before and after prices.

The part that held up was the advice. Waiting for September did not make the iPhone 17 cheaper. Anyone who bought one in August paid £100 less than today's Apple price.

Why a flat £100 matters

A flat rise keeps the cash gaps the same and squeezes the percentages. The iPhone 17 is still £200 more than the 17e, but that is now 28.6% more rather than 33.4%. I worked through what that does to the iPhone 17e at £699, and the short version is that the iPhone 17 is better value against the 17e than it was all summer.

The iPhone 16 is the odd one out

The iPhone 16 is now £799 for 128GB, exactly what the iPhone 17 cost in August and only £100 under it today. For that £100 the iPhone 17 gets a newer chip, a 120Hz ProMotion screen and twice the starting storage. I would not buy a new iPhone 16 at £799.

Where to buy an iPhone 17 for less than £899

Retailers have not all followed Apple. On 1 October PriceSpy showed Amazon UK selling the 256GB iPhone 17 at £799, the old Apple price, while ao.com had moved to £899. The cheapest listings, from £749.99, came from marketplace and independent sellers such as Mobile Direct and OnBuy.

£799 at Amazon is £100, or 11.1%, under Apple, my own arithmetic. If you buy from a marketplace seller, check the listing says new, UK stock and unlocked before you pay.

If you are paying monthly, compare totals rather than monthly figures, because Apple quotes the iPhone 17 over 30 months and the 17e over 24. I compared Apple Upgrade against the old iPhone Upgrade Programme if you are weighing up finance.

Should you buy an iPhone 17 now?

Yes, if you find it at £799

At £799 you are paying the August price for the iPhone I would point most people towards. That is the best version of this deal right now.

Hold one next to the 17e at £899

At Apple's £899 the iPhone 17 is still a good buy, but the iPhone 17e at £699 does most of the same job with an A19 chip and the same 256GB. The 120Hz screen, the second camera and the better front camera are what the extra £200 buys. If you would not notice those, save the money.

Do not wait for Apple to cut the price

Carry-over iPhones rarely get cheaper during their second year, and Apple has just moved the whole range up. The discounts worth having will come from retailers, not from Apple.

iPhone 17 price FAQ

How much is the iPhone 17 in the UK?

£899 for 256GB and £1,099 for 512GB on Apple's UK store, after a £100 rise on 9 September 2026. Some retailers, including Amazon UK on 1 October, were still selling the 256GB model at £799.

Did Apple raise iPhone prices in the UK?

Yes. On 9 September 2026 Apple added £100 to every iPhone it carried over: the iPhone 17e, iPhone 16, iPhone 17 and iPhone Air.

Will the iPhone 17 get cheaper?

Not from Apple, in my view. Carry-over models normally hold their price until they are discontinued. Retailer discounts are the realistic route, and some already undercut Apple by £100.

My take

In August I said buy now if the iPhone 17 is the phone you want, because waiting would not save money. That turned out to be worth exactly £100.

Today the advice is narrower. If you can get the iPhone 17 at £799 from a retailer you trust, buy it. At Apple's £899, look at the iPhone 17e first, and do not buy a new iPhone 16 at £799 when the 17 costs the same elsewhere.
